Many Red Wings under pressure to reverse production from last season

Johan Franzen and Valtteri Filppula were two players under the microscope last season as Red Wing who had to come through – and largely did until the playoffs – if the team were to be successful.
Who is under that type of pressure this season?
There are many candidates, I would suspect, in a similar category.
Niklas Kronwall has to play like a No. 1 defenseman in the face of Nicklas Lidstrom retiring and Brad Stuart leaving for San Jose. Lidstrom, specifically, has always been the Wings’ unquestioned leader of the blue line. Kronwall now has that role, unfamiliar to him.
Kyle Quincey needs to simply be more consistent than he was after being acquired near the trade deadline.
Jonathan Ericsson has to take on more minutes and responsibility with Lidstrom and Stuart gone.
Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk have the pressure of producing offense on a team that has had trouble scoring goals in the post-season while taking on even greater leadership roles.
And both are one year older.
Franzen, again, after a sub-par end to last season, has to show he can be counted on for 30 goals and lose some of those ugly inconsistent streaks he’s been prone to having.
Filppula, who can be an unrestricted free agent, has to build on what he accomplished last season.
Danny Cleary and Todd Bertuzzi have to rebound from inconsistent seasons.
On a team with a lot of question marks, it’s not surprising there are a lot of players under the spotlight who need to produce.
