No NHL, but public skating at Joe Louis Arena next week

Forget the public rinks, here’s your chance to skate at Joe Louis Arena.
The Red Wings today announced a new open skate program at JLA.
Four, one-hour sessions will be held Monday through Wednesday, Sept. 24-26. Times are 11 a.m. – noon, noon – 1 p.m., 7 p.m – 8 p.m., and 8 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Mandatory pre-registration for all 12 skating sessions is open at www.DetroitRedWings.com/OpenSkate and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Hockey players take note, though: sticks and pucks will not be permitted on the ice surface during any of the skating sessions.
Admission and parking to all sessions is free of charge.
