Nyquist, Mrazek leading Grand Rapids Griffins surge atop standings

Yes, there is hockey being played down in the minor leagues.
And there’s good news from Grand Rapids on that front, with the Griffins winning their last five games, moving into the Midwest Division lead, and two players standing out.
Forward Gustav Nyquist and goalie Petr Mrazek are playing great hockey.
Nyquist will likely be in the Red Wings lineup as soon (or if) the lockout is settled.
Currently second in the American League in scoring Nyquist has 15 points (six goals, nine assists) in 13 games, trailing only Oaklahoma City defenseman Justin Schultz (16 points), the undrafted free agent every team (including the Wings) wanted to sign in late June.
Nyquist is the type of player who could thrive when play resumes, with many players obviously not playing in any type of league right now (AHL or Europe) and Nyquist playing right from the start of training camp.
As for Mrazek, the Griffins’ latest surge coincided with Mrazek joining Grand Rapids.
Mrazek is 4-0-0 (Thomas McCollum has the other victory) with a .940 save percentage and 1.71 goals-against average.
A big-time junior star, Mrazek hasn’t missed a beat in his first taste of pro hockey so far.
