Remember the name Scot Beckenbaugh. Maybe that’ll be the hero of this terrible NHL lockout.
It seems Beckenbaugh, a federal mediator, has possibly been a key person in gaining traction Saturday for a new collective bargaining agreement between the league and Players Association.
Commissioner Gary Bettman wants to have a new agreement worked out as soon as possible to get a 48-game regular season started on Jan. 19 (training camp beginning on Jan. 12).
The lockout began Sept. 15.
