Sometimes statistics don’t lie. And after 20 minutes of this regular season opener between the Red Wings and St. Louis Blues, the statistics pretty much reflect the game.
The Blues are leading 2-0, which is fine. But in the shots on goal department, the Blues have out-shot the Red Wings 17-2.
Those numbers aren’t bloated or padded. That’s pretty accurate.
And it pretty much sums up the first period for the Red Wings.
Not good.
Someone should remind them the lockout has ended.
Which, by the way, Blues fans are pretty obviously happy it is.
Great atmosphere here in St. Louis before the game and around the parking lots outside.
It was a real mild day, temperatures approaching 60, and there was a lot of tailgating.
Just a lot of fun. Hockey, indeed, is back.
Although the way the Red Wings played that first period….
