The Red Wings have waived goalie Joey MacDonald.
If no team claims MacDonald, he will be assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
MacDonald hasn’t played since March because of a bulging disc in his back.
He has been practicing regularly over the last two weeks and appears to be healthy.
