Brunnstrom

Fabian Brunnstrom healthy scratch; Zetterberg is playing against Oilers

Apparently the middle body injury Henrik Zetterberg had this morning isn’t much of an injury – Zetterberg is playing this evening. He’s in the lineup. Who isn’t? Fabian Brunnstrom, who continues to have difficulty cracking the Red Wings lineup. Brunnstrom does appear to have skills and maybe he is an NHL player. But for all those aching to see him play, remember this – Dallas and Toronto both discarded him in the last two seasons, not believing he could play at this level.
If he couldn’t play with Dallas or the Maple Leafs, is it really reasonable to think he can play with the Red Wings.

Fabian Brunnstrom is put on waivers

Fabian Brunnstrom has been waived. If no team claims Brunnstrom by noon Monday he’ll land with the Grand Rapids Griffins. This is more about Brunnstrom getting playing time. He has only played 1 game thus far this season (he’s a healthy scratch tonight against Minnesota). It’s also a chance to possibly call-up Brendan Smith so he can take Brunnstrom’s roster spot and serve the final two games of the 5-game suspension Smith earned during the exhibition season.

Brunnstrom will play Saturday in Washington

All of you who have been wondering when Fabian Brunnstrom will make his debut with the Red Wings, you now have an answer. Coach Mike Babcock said after today’s morning skate he is planning on playing Brunnstrom tomorrow night in Washington. Brunnstrom has been a healthy scratch for five consecutive games, counting tonight’s game against Columbus.
