Despite its stodgy rep, I’m sure the IRS knows how to laugh. Let’s just hope it sounds nothing like Julia Roberts’ contrived cackle.

Actor Eric Roberts starred in “The Pope of Greenwich Village” and played a memorable silver screen psycho in “Star 80.” So what’s he owe the IRS? 80-something — plus $56,348 to California.
The new IRS bill is the latest in a string of filings by the state of California and the IRS in recent years. Roberts’ past tax woes were detailed in an earlier post. The mounting tax debt might explain the flurry of filming involving Roberts this year.
