Lionel Richie picked a terrible time to run afoul of the IRS.
He’s got a new album out. And it’s selling like it’s 1989, which could help him pay off a new $1.1 million delinquent tax bill.
What’s owed:
- The IRS filed a $1,130,609 tax lien against Richie on April 2 with the Los Angeles County Recorder of Deeds.

Richie’s spokesman did not respond to emails or a phone call seeking comment Thursday.
