Weblog Migration

The great weblog migration has begun. We kicked things off with this developer blog that my colleague, Aaron Olson named Source Code while we weren’t looking.  (It’s okay Aaron it’s nerdy enough).     Next came Covering The Bases, Tony Paul’s excellent baseball blog.  Today I migrated The Pistons and Red Wings blogs and they’re looking pretty smooth thanks to Olson’s sweet themes.

As if  Director of Digital Innovation, Tom Gromak weren’t busy enough, he’s making sure all website links are in good shape so users can find the new blogs in all the right places.   No photos of him yet, maybe next time.

The Facebook commenting seems to be working well, though at first it wanted to affiliate me with my high school until I updated my FB profile with The Detroit News.   This may be something users want to look at when commenting on our new weblogs.   For example, I don’t want to appear to be representing The Detroit News when posting off-hand comments about things not pertaining to work.

Aaron Olson making the magic

I just snapped a photo of Mr. Olson hard at work and am including it here for visual reference.  He’s working on integrating some DNP code into the themes so we can 1) pay the bills with some ads and 2) get a reading on how many people are visiting each day. So, as we press on with the migration, please feel free to leave us comments and ask questions about the new and improved weblogs at The Detroit News.
