Once off the radar, the 11th District Congressional District is now coming into focus for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. And the chance at picking up an unexpected GOP seat has got the Dems singing.
With five-term incumbent Rep. Thad McCotter’s signature foul up and steep challenge of a write-in campaign, the seat is now in play, according to the DCCC, the party committee aimed at taking back the U.S. House in 2012. Tea party inspired Kerry Bentivolio, a teacher and political newcomer, is the only GOP candidate on the ballot. There’s a Democratic primary between a Lyndon LaRouche Democrat, Bill Roberts, and party favorite, Dr. Syed Taj, former chief of medicine at Oakwood Hospital.
So DCCC kicked off their enthusiasm today with song lyrics. Here’s the “Ballad of Thad McCotter:”
McCotter’s sure down on his luck
His Seize Freedom! sales kind of suck
Running for president – sheer vanity
Fox’s Red Eye over Livonia – the humanity!
Out of touchness costs more than a buck
Oh what poor fate has befallen Rep. Thad
Nearly all his signatures are bad
Quite the amateur’s blunder
11th CD GOP cast asunder
No R seat Obama won’s ironclad
“McCotter’s Mcfoul-up” reads the News
A tough write-in campaign he could lose
The cost profound
As fraud charges abound
And Thad’s likely left singing the blues
