Stabenow releases 2nd TV ad

U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Lansing, launched her second round of TV ads Monday featuring Michigan farmers praising her work as chairwoman of the Senate agriculture committee.

Stabenow, seeking a third term in the Senate, led efforts to craft a new Farm Bill that passed the U.S. Senate with bipartisan support, but failed to make traction in the GOP-led House. The 2008 Farm Bill expired this week that covers food assistance programs as well as crop subsidies.

Former U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Holland, is challenging Stabenow in the Nov. 6 election.
