The biggest disagreements so far have come on Medicare.
Romney says Obama hurt current seniors by cutting $716 billion from Medicare program that means hospitals and doctors will have to limit Medicare patients. He calls the cuts “a mistake.”
Obama responds the costs savings in Medicare extend the life of the senior health care program for 8 years and doesn’t cut benefits to seniors. He points to AARP’s support.
Obama says Romney wants to turn Medicare to a voucher like system for future seniors. “If you’re 54 or 55 you may want to listen,” Obama says. The voucher would mean about $6,000 in new costs per person because the voucher won’t keep up with health care costs.
Romney and Obama agree voters have a clear choice on the Medicare issue.
