Obama and Romney sparred over why gas prices are up so much higher now than when the president took office.
Romney noted gas was less than $2 a gallon four years ago when Obama took office. Today, it is more than $4 a gallon.
He attribued that to Obama’s energy policy “not working” and promised to fight for a policy that would work.
Obama agreed gas prices are higher today.
“Why is that?” Obama asked. “Because the economy was on the verge of collapse.”
And it’s Romney’s policies that could create the same mess again, Obama said.
“I want to produce an economy that is strong,” Obama said.
