House Democrats on Friday announced nine stops across the state on their listening tour.
The tour is in response to Gov. Rick Snyder’s State of the State address and the Republican leadership’s priorities in the GOP-dominated Legislature for the new session that began in January.
“Republicans have repeatedly shown that they put their corporate donors before Michigan residents,” House Democratic Leader Tim Greimel, D-Auburn Hills, said in a statement. “They handed massive tax giveaways to big corporations and fat-cat CEOs, and paid for them by slashing education funding and raising taxes on middle-class families.”
The town hall events will be:
- 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Canton Public Library
- Feb. 18: Sterling Heights
- Feb. 25: Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids
- March 4: Hancock and Monroe
- March 7: Lansing
- March 11: Detroit and Flint
Times and locations for the other stops are to be announced.
“We are embarking on this listening tour so that Michiganders from Monroe to Menominee can have their voices heard,” said Rep. Jim Townsend, D-Royal Oak.
