Chase away cabin fever at Traverse City's Winter WowFest

If you can’t beat winter, join it. That’s the attitude of Traverse City folks who are pulling out all the stops for the 4th annual Winter WowFest next weekend, Feb. 18-21.

Marshalling some of the same energy they throw into the popular National Cherry Festival each summer, they’re staging a winter celebration in and around downtown Traverse City highlighted by a Monster Dog Pull, snow and ice sculptures, wine- and soup-tasting parties, chili cookoff, ice cream-eating contests, concerts, foot and bed races, snowboarding demonstrations, horse-and-carriage rides, ski events, tubing and a co-ed snowball softball tournament.

Grand Traverse Resort & Spa will host a “Winter Fun Zone” featuring family-oriented activities on Saturday and Sunday, capped by a winter fireworks display on Sunday night.
