Pass the milk but skip the paczki's

Today is Fat Tuesday and I am going to do something this evening that is going to be very difficult to do at Rosie O’Grady’s in Ferndale.

I am going to emcee a Paczki eating contest (7-8:30 pm) and not sample one of the fatty Polish delights although I will be surrounded by them. The goal is for contestants to eat as many pounds of Paczkis as they can in five minutes. The organizers wanted to do eight minutes but that is a little excessive. The winner gets $1,000 and hopefully the use of a stomach pump for the evening.

A number of you will not skip out on a Paczki’s. If you have one you had better hit the gym also. When we indulge we must balance it off by working it off. The traditional treats are an estimated 300-450 calories each. For many of us, that is lunch. They are also filling and sit on your stomach like small bricks.

I will skip out on the doughnut for a nice salad and maybe some soup. But if I slip up and break my promise, Life Time here I come.
