If you’re looking to travel over the holidays, Kayak offers some worthwhile tips.
The best time to book holiday travel in theU.S.is now through Dec. 10; average airfare for domestic travel around Christmas is expected to be $433, according to the online travel company. Travelers can save up to 6 percent in airfare by booking during this first week of December; prices are expected to rise again around mid month.
You can also save money by keeping your travel plans flexible. Kayak says the cheapest flights depart on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day with return flights on either Dec. 27 or Dec. 29. Expect higher fares on flights leaving on Dec. 22 or Dec. 23 and returning Dec. 26, Dec. 27 or Dec. 29.
