'Sew Red, Sewing & Quilting For Women's Heart Health' book giveaway

Laura Zander, co-founder and co-owner of Jimmy Beans Wool (www.JimmyBeansWool.com), and author of “Knit Red” (Sixth&SpringBooks), has done it again with her exciting new book, “Sew Red, Sewing & Quilting For Women’s Heart Health” (Sterling Publishing Co., Inc./$22.95).

Inside the book, you’ll find a collection of patterns for projects created by a host of talented designers, including Ty Pennington, Amy Butler, Denyse Schmidt, Anna Maria Horner, Kaffe Fassett and Valori Wells. Each designer shares his/her story about heart disease and advice for living a healthy life.

Projects showcased in the book include quilts, a kimono tunic, a petal dress, a backpack, a drawstring dress with cold shoulders, a maxi skirt, pillow and fabric beaded necklace.

The book is spiral-bound, making it easy to use, and includes an envelop attached to the inside back cover with pattern pieces for all the projects that require them. And with the inclusion of basic sewing tips, the book is very beginner friendly!

A portion of proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health in support of The Heart Truth, a campaign sponsored by the National Heart , Lung and Blood Institute dedicated to women and heart disease.

For a chance to win a copy of the book, just email me at jbrown@detroitnews.com and tell me a story about what makes you interested in this particular book. Please put the words ‘Sew Red’ in the subject line, and REMEMBER to include your name and address.

GOOD LUCK!!!
