Troy area seniors invited to sell work at local gift shop

If you’re a senior age 50 or older, then you have the opportunity to have your handmade goods sold at Creative Endeavors Gift Shop at the Troy Community Center, 3179 Livernois, in Troy.

“‘The shop has been open for 10 years, and sales totaled over $35,000 last year,” said Carla Vaughan, coordinator of Senior Programs. “We have over 100 vendors and offer a wide variety of handmade merchandise.’ The shop is open approximately 32 hours per week, including Saturdays and some evenings.

“The City of Troy provides display space, media promotion, tags for merchandise, bags, and pays the 6% Michigan sales tax. For this service, the city retains a 30% commission on all items sold.

“Vendors may bring a sample of their work to the Troy Community Center and will then be contacted by the store committee. For more information, please call Carla Vaughan at Troy Recreation (248-524-3492)” or send an email to vaughancs@troymi.gov.
