Learn to knit beginning May 13 at Troy Community Center

If you’re interested in learning basic knitting techniques, you can sign up now for “Beginning Knitting Lessons” at Troy Community Center, 3179 Livernois, Troy. Classes will be held every Tuesday from 1-3 p.m.,┬ábeginning May 13 and running through June 3 (four weeks).

“This class will cover essential knitting techniques. Begin by learning how to cast on and then how to do the two basic stitches, knitting and purling, that everything else is based on. Also, learn how to increase, decrease and bind off, the importance of gauge, and how to read a basic pattern.

“A $15 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class which will include knitting needles and yarn. Adults of all ages are welcome to attend. The fee is $45 for Troy residents and $55 for non-residents.”
