Rubyellen Bratcher, who’ been featured in several publications, including Family Fun Magazine, Martha Stewart Living, and Babiekins, has put together a book filled with a number of fun projects for you to do with that little person in your life on a rainy day, or any day. The book is titled “Let’s Sew Together” (Potter Craft/$19.99).
“Rubyellen is a mom, and she totally gets it. Fans of her charming blog (mycakies.com) have fallen in love with Rubyellen’s down-to-earth approach to parenting, and she brings the same no-fuss attitude to sewing. It’s okay that you don’t have time to make every stitch picture-perfect. Part of the charm of handmade things are slightly crooked seams, quirky scrap-bag fabrics, and remembering that the most important things you can make are memories of spending time together,” reads the book’s backcover, in part.
Featured projects include slippers, wristlets, bow ties, a tent, a zippered pouch, a fabric necklace, pin cushion glove puppets, a lap pillow and so much more. All the necessary techniques for making each project are included in the front section of the book, along with information on the needed sewing tools.
