Here's Hoping Wednesday - Andy Dirks and who? Kim Kardashian?

1. I hope, no, I know this is the last time she will be mentioned in a Tigers’ note, but when Andy Dirks was asked on Wednesday if he became a celebrity in the Dominican Republic after his single up the middle that clinched the championship, he replied: “Andy Dirks is not a celebrity. Kim Karshashian is a celebrity. I am not Kim Kardashian.”

2. Just tried Fastball Flakes, the new cereal with Justin Verlander on the box. Quite good in a Frosted Flakes sort of way.

Here’s hoping they’re a hit – as they already seem to be, what with 2,600 boxes sold the first day.

3. I really hope the next position player to arrive is Brandon Inge, because it’s getting old waiting outside the clubhouse just in case he does.

Wait, here comes a position player driving in as we speak.

Inge? No, Ryan Strieby.

4. Here’s hoping I’ll be as fit at 47 as Kenny Rogers appears to be.

O.K., so I wasn’’t. Big deal.

5. I hope ESPN won’t be talking about Tim Tebow again the next time I turn on one of their talk shows.

I’m getting a blister from the speed with which I change the channel when Tebow is the subject.
