The Tigers on Thursday morning sent pitcher Thad Weber back to Toledo and purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Luke Putkonen, who was 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA in six appearances at Toledo.
The move represents a nice turnaround for the 25-year-old Putkonen. He was 3-13 combined for Lakeland and Erie in the Tigers’ organization last year, and now he’s in the majors.
Weber was 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in two appearances for the Tigers.
