Callus on right thumb forced Verlander out

1. He was going to go back out for the eighth inning on Sunday against Oakland, but it began to bleed.

2. It’s a situation he’s been dealing with all season, to a lesser degree, but this is the first time it’s bled.

4. His pitch count of 104 was his lowest in any game he’s won since July 9, 2010.

5. The Bullpen was steady in finishing the 3-1 victory, though.
