Smyly has a strong game, but Tigers-Twins still scoreless

Drew Smyly couldn’t have done any more than he did. The 23-year-old pitcher went 5 1/3 innings. He struck out five, allowed two hits and walked just one on 93 pitches. The Tigers bats have been unable to get on the board against Twins pitcher Scott Diamond, who has allowed five hits on just 72 pitches through six innings. Tigers pitching as a whole has sat down 11 straight Twins hitters.
