Drew Smyly has done his part. If his pitch count were lower, he could go deep into this game with the stuff he’s featuring. But it was unrealistic for anyone to expect more than five or six innings out of Smyly. He’s gone five so far, striking out five, allowing just two hits and walking one on 87 pitches. The Tigers bats need to wake up and not waste such a good effort from Smyly.
