Smyly takes the hill in place of Scherzer against Twins

Max Scherzer was scheduled to get the start for the Tigers, but lingering shoulder issues will keep him out of tonight’s game. Drew Smyly (4-3, 4.24 ERA) will take the mound to square off against the Minnesota Twins best pitcher, Scott Diamond (12-8, 3.64 ERA). Diamond gave up just two runs in seven innings to the Tigers in a start at Comerica Park this past Sunday. The Tigers are looking to get another step closer to an American League Central Division championship. They are currently two games up on the Chicago White Sox with six games remaining.
