Tigers clinging to 2-0 lead

Justin Verlander has been very good on the mound today, but the Tiger bats have been unable to provide enough of a spark to start pulling away from the Minnesota Twins.

The Tigers lead this one 2-0 after seven innings.

While Verlander has been great, his pitch count has piled up (111) and it looks very unlikely that he will throw a complete game.

The Tiger bats need to wake up and provide a few insurance runs, otherwise they are just one pitching mistake away from having a fight on their hands.

Verlander has struck out eight batters (Justin Morneau three times), walked two and given up just four hits.

The Chicago White Sox, who are just one game behind the Tigers in race for the American League Central Division, trail 6-0 to the Tampa Bay Rays in the sixth inning of their game in Chicago.
