Joe Mauer has three hits off of Anibal Sanchez today.
His third single of the day moved Ben Revere over to third base.
But Sanchez bared down again, getting Justin Morneau, Ryan Doumit and Chris Parmelee out in consecutive fashion as the Twins failed to bring in any runs.
The Tigers couldn’t do anything with a lead off single from Austin Jackson in the top of the sixth inning.
Jackson was sacrificed to second base by Quintin Berry, which led to an intentional walk of Miguel Cabrera. The Twins couldn’t have drawn it up any better, as Prince Fielder grounded into an inning-ending double play.
The Tigers have just four hits against Liam Hendriks, who entered the game with a 1-8 record and an ERA of 6.02.
The White Sox trail Tampa Bay 5-2 in Chicago in the fifth inning.
