The Twins have broken through against Anibal Sanchez in the seventh inning.
Pedro Florimon drove in Jamey Carroll after Alexi Casilla had sacrificed Carroll to second base.
Sanchez had a stellar outing, giving up the one run in 6 1/3 innings while striking out four and walking just one.
Liam Hendriks has thrown seven shut out innings for the Twins. Pretty impressive for a guy that came into this contest with a 1-8 record and an ERA over six.
The Tigers could not cash in a one-out single from Andy Dirks that was followed by a Jhonny Peralta walk in the top of the seventh.
