Miguel Cabrera hit a solo shot in the sixth inning to take sole possession of the American League home run lead, and more importantly give the Tigers a lead of their own in Kansas City.
The Tigers added another run as Royals center fielder David Lough misplayed a ball off the bat of Jhonny Peralta that should have ended the inning.
The error scored Prince Fielder from second base.
The bleeding didn’t stop there for Royals pitcher Bruce Chen. Gerald Laird had a bases-loaded, bases-clearing double off of Chen to make it 6-0 Tigers.
Rick Pocello had retired ten straight batters before allowing a single and two walks to load the bases with two outs in the fifth inning.
Luckily for Porcello, Alcides Escobar hit the ball on the ground and Omar Infante made a sparkling play and flipped the ball to Jhonny Peralta for the force out.
Porcello threw 29 pitches in the inning.
The White Sox lead the Indians, 6-0, in the ninth inning of their game in Cleveland.
