Tigers turn to Valverde to close out Game 1

After Joaquin Benoit’s scare in the eighth inning, the Tigers are leaning on Jose Valverde to close out Game 1 with a save. The bullpen has been up and down throughout the season, but it would be a big boost if they were able to finish the game without allowing a run. Valverde struck out the first two batters and is looking to polish off pinch-hitter George Kottaras to end it.
