After allowing a leadoff walk Doug Fister was able to get the next three batters in the fourth, keeping the score tied at one. Fister fanned George Kattaras for the second time in the game and got Cliff Pennington to ground out.
Fister is still safe with 70 pitches, but may only have a couple more innings. His only clean inning was the first, when he got through with just nine pitches.
To compare, Justin Verlander needed 73 pitches to get through four innings last night. Fister, however, probably won’t throw 121 pitches, as Verlander did in Game 1.
