Doug Fister works quickly, gets through first inning easily

Unlike Game 1, where Tigers starter Justin Verlander labored through the first few innings with a wagon full of pitches, Doug Fister mowed through the top of the first inning, needing only nine pitches. Fister typically works quickly, but his variety of pitches and stuff were effective, getting Coco Crisp — who led off Game 1 with a home run off Verlander — to strike out before getting Stephen Drew and Yoenis Cespedes to pop out.
With a right-handed lineup today, Leyland will look to Austin Jackson and Omar Infante to get on base to create scoring opportunities for Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder. Each had a double and scored a run in Game 1 last night.
