After Doug Fister got out of a jam in the second, A’s starter Tommy Milone got into a bigger jam, loading the bases with two outs. Andy Dirks got a bloop single, Avisail Garcia walked and Gerald Laird was hit by a pitch, giving Austin Jackson an opportunity to get the Tigers on the board.
But Jackson popped out to center field and the Tigers were unable to scratch a run. Still, Milone is having to make a lot of pressure pitches early, which generally bodes well for later in the game.
In the first two innings, the Tigers have had at least one runner on second — and given a few of those opportunities, they’ll likely cash in. The third inning will have Infante, Cabrera and Fielder — a good chance to get to Milone.
