Will they do it? Or will they have us all biting our nails for games four and five?
The Tigers have a golden opportunity to sweep the A’s tonight in Oakland.
Anibal Sanchez is getting the start on the mound.
Sanchez has been stellar in his last few starts, which gives Jim Leyland confidence in his abilities. Leyland also has the comfort of knowing that Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander are looming should Sanchez not bring his best stuff tonight.
Make no mistake, though, the Tigers would love to end this tonight in Oakland, which is a very tough place to play.
The A’s counter with Brett Anderson, who hasn’t pitched since he faced the Tigers at Comerica Park on September 19th. He left that game in the third inning with a strained right oblique.
The Tigers have struggled with quality, and even sometimes sub-par left-handed pitching this season.
A quick start will help Tigers fans breathe easily.
I’ll be blogging all night as the Tigers try to reach the ALCS for the second straight season. First pitch is scheduled for 9:07 from Oakland.
