The Tigers are going back to the American League Championship Series for the second straight year for the first time since the 1930s.
The season has been full of ups and downs, but the sparkling performance by ace Justin Verlander and the Tigers bats tonight have the Tigers in prime position to make a run at the World Series.
Verlander threw a complete game. He struck out 11, gave up four hits and walked one on 122 pitches. Those are the numbers of a true ace.
The Tigers don’t know who they will be playing yet, as the Orioles beat the Yankees tonight to force a Game 5.
With the way the Tigers pitched in this series, they can beat anybody. I don’t think the quality of pitching they’ll see from a collection of anyone’s starters will match that of Oakland’s. So hopefully the bats make some noise going forward.
These last three nights have been exhausting for Tigers fans. But the team got it done. Now the pressure mounts even more as the Tigers will be one of four teams left standing.
