Tigers one inning away from advancing, lead 6-0 after eight

Justin Verlander came back to the mound for the eighth inning. If you’re surprised, you must not follow this team or this pitcher very closely.

The Tigers ace has allowed just five runners to reach base all night, giving up four hits and walking just one.

With the Tigers up 6-0 and the chance to add more in the top of the ninth, I’m not sure if Verlander will get the call to finish this one off. I think he might, and he’s more than capable, but he has thrown 111 pitches and the lead is a big one.

I’ve been saying all night how you can’t count Oakland out, but the glimmer of hope they have is just that, a glimmer.
