Fister struggles with control but escapes first inning

Doug Fister issued three walks in the first inning but got out of it when Jhonny Peralta made a great diving stop on a sharply hit ball by Alex Rodriguez to get the force at second and save his pitcher.

Fister doesn’t look comfortable out there. He’s missing the strike zone, which is not a good sign. Fister is a strike thrower. That’s what he’s known as. Let’s hope he settles down, otherwise it could be a long night for him and the Detroit bullpen.

The Tigers went quietly in their first at-bats of the game, with Miguel Cabrera getting a two-out single before a Prince Fielder strikeout.
