Austin Jackson got a lead off triple and Prince Fielder was able to deliver him home after the Yankees walked Miguel Cabrera with one out to put runners at the corners.
Delmon Young got a single of his own to bring in Cabrera from second base and the Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead.
Jhonny Peralta walked to load the bases for Andy Dirks, who popped out. Avisail Garcia then popped out himself on the first pitch he saw.
It’s nice to see the Tigers strike first, something that looked unthinkable in the first two innings. They still didn’t take advantage of a bases loaded situation with less than two outs, so let’s hope that doesn’t come back to haunt them.
