Phil Coke came in and retired all three batters he faced in the seventh and eighth innings. Then Joaquin Benoit got Eric Chavez on a long fly out before Nick Swisher doubled to right field. Curtis Granderson then promptly grounded out on the first pitch.
It’s not a save situation, but I’m 99.9% sure we’re going to see Jose Valverde in the ninth inning. He is the closer and this is the postseason. Four runs in the postseason might as well be considered a save situation, especially against the Yankees.
