Hiroki Kuroda has struck out seven of the nine Tigers that have to the plate in the first three innings.
This is the first time in Kuroda’s career he has ever started on three days rest, and he is showing no ill-effects so far. Needless to say, he is dialed in. He hasn’t allowed a base-runner yet.
Anibal Sanchez is working his pitches pretty well, and his count is about where you’d like it to be (42). He set the Yankees down in order in the third.
These teams are picking right up where they left off, riding their pitching while their supposedly scary lineups disappear. Hopefully the Tiger bats find themselves the second time around the lineup.
