As mad as fans may be at Jose Valverde and Jim Leyland right now, they have to be equally as happy with Octavio Dotel and Drew Smyly, who shut down the Yankees in extra innings in a tough situation.
Oh, and that guy Delmon Young, too. Young appears to always turn it on in the postseason and did so tonight with two huge RBIs, including the game-winner.
It says a lot a bout the character of this team that they were able to come back after devastatingly giving up a four-run lead in the ninth inning.
A big story developed in the 12th inning that had nothing to do with the Tigers scoring, as Yankees captain Derek Jeter had to be carried off the field after appearing to re-injure a nagging ankle injury.
The Tigers and Yankees will be back at it in the Bronx in about 15 hours, with first pitch scheduled for 4:07 from Yankee Stadium.
