(Michael Mondavi Family Estate)
I’M Deep Rose Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, $18: This stylish, rare rose of Cabernet Sauvignon is from Michael Mondavi’s prized Atlas Peak and Pope Valley vineyards in Napa Valley. It’s named for Mondavi’s wife, Isabel, who fell in love with this wine style, and it eventually went from being a few cases for family and friends to full-scale production. It has lovely aromas of strawberry, cranberry and red apple; on the palate, it’s framed with crisp acidity and subtle tannins. It’s the perfect pairing with roast salmon, turkey and spicy Asian dishes. Enjoy it lightly chilled. It’s a personal favorite of Karen Bloomer, Kroger division wine steward, who stocks it in select stores including Bloomfield Hills, Novi, Birmingham, Grosse Pointe, Grosse Ile and Rochester. The distributor is National Wine & Spirits.
