Weekend Wine: Bridlewood Blend 175

Bridlewood Estate Winery makes intense, delicious reds. (Gallo)

Bridlewood Estate Winery Blend 175 Central Coast 2010, $11-$15: All you have to do is lift a glass to your nose and inhale the explosion of raspberries, cherries, black pepper, chocolate and vanilla. In the mouth, it’s smooth and intense; tannins are supple, acidity gives it balance. It’s a blend of high-octane Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. Nick Nearhood at Woods Fine Wine in Grosse Pointe Woods sells it for $10.99 and loves it: “We have been flying through it for months.” Besides Woods, find it at Holiday Market, Canton; Hollywood Market, Troy, Rochester; ml. Spirits, Birmingham; Chateau de Vin, Rochester. The wholesaler is Great Lakes Wine & Spirits.
