Gold medals for Bowers Harbor Rieslings

Word came out today that Michigan’s Bowers Harbor Vineyards raked in gold and a Chairman’s Best of Class at the 2012 Long Beach Grand Cru Wine Competition.

Golds went to the 2011 Riesling, Block II; 2011 Riesling Smokey Hollow; 2011 Riesling, Medium Dry; 2011 Riesling, Medium Sweet.

The 2011 Langley (Late Harvest) collected a Double Gold and Chairman’s Best of Class.

Longtime wine writer Dan Berger is Chief Judge of the event, which is capped off by a public tasting Aug. 18.

This kind of recognition is a big deal considering the other Riesling entries from around the country and the caliber of the judges.
