Imagine sailing down the Rhine River in Germany with a bird’s-eye view of the Rheingau and its hilly vineyards and old ruins with a friendly Michigan winemaker as your guide.
Mark Johnson, vice president and winemaker at Chateau Chantal on Old Mission Peninsula, will co-host the “Celebration of Wine” Rhine River cruise this November with Ama Waterways for a 7-night river journey that begins in Amsterdam and travels to Cologne, Koblenz, Rudesheim, Speyer, Strasbourg and Breisach in Germany and Basel, Switzerland. The cruise concludes with a two-night stay in the medieval city of Lucerne, followed by two nights in Zurich.
Johnson speaks German and got his wine training at Germany’s Geisenheim Institute.
