HOW’S THIS for an eye-popping label! If you are a fashionista, you probably recognize the floral design as something designer Zac Posen created. The Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio limited edition bottle is covered in clear plastic printed with Posen’s distinctive flowers that appear to be floating. Posen played off the wine’s floral character to create the graphic, flower-splashed Kiko print. Over the years, Ecco Domani has contributed more than $1.8 million to support up-and-coming designers, including Posen back in 2002. The wine came out May 1. It won’t be hard to spot this attraction in the Italian section of supermarket wine departments and independent wine shops.
Footnote: Caitlyn Jenner wears a Zac Posen design in the new issue of Vanity Fair.
Ecco Domani “Zac Posen” Pinot Grigio delle Venezie IGT 2014, $14: Aromas of lemon-lime, green apple and melon with a kiss of honeysuckle and sage tickle the nostrils. Flavors are dry and crisp with an infusion of minerality and touch of floral/herbal tones. The wine is blended with a small amount of Chardonnay. It’s produced off vineyards in Trentino-Alto Adige, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Veneto.
